The San Francisco Symphony Kids' Site -
Visit the Music Lab to learn about how music is written. There is also a section on the instruments of the
orchestra.
The British Harpsichord Society - The harpsichord looks like a
piano but it works differently and has a neat sound all of its own. This site tells how the harpsichord works
and you can hear what it sounds like.
The State Hermitage Museum - in St. Petersburg, Russia. Once this
was the palace of the Russian rulers. Now it has an incredible collection of art. See if you can find the Faberge Easter eggs.
Asia Art - A good place to see the beautiful art of China, Japan, and other Asian Countries.
The Renaissance Connection - Much great art was produced during the Italian
Renaissance. You can see great paintings and become a patron of the arts at this site from the Allentown Museum.
The Virtual Diego Rivera Museum - Mexican artist of the
twentieth Century. This museum has a nice display of his paintings and a biography.
Claude Monet - This is a good site to look at the art of the French painter, Claude
Monet. You may learn about his life and where he lived, and look at many of his paintings.
American Art
America has produced a lot of great artists. Take a look at some of the different ways these men and
women portrayed America.
Thomas Eakins - Eakins was born in Philadelphia, PA, and taught at
the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. He is considered to be one of the best American artists.
Mary Cassatt - Cassatt was born in Pittsburgh, and grew up in
Philadelphia. She spent most of her adult life in France. She painted wonderful pictures of women and children.
The Eight - These were 8 artists who pictured the country
during the early years of the 20th century.
The Ashcan School - This was group of artists who painted life in
the cities.
Edward Hopper - Hopper painted the life of people in cities.
