Meta-Search Engines
Parallel Internet query engines which you can use to submit your questions to several search
engines at one time.
- TurboScout
- Try your search terms on multiple search engines and multiple multisearch engines. You may also search for news, blogs, images, and products.
- Whonu
- This search site offers so many features that it is advisible to watch the introductory video to find out how to use it. You may search
for a great many types of web content, and use a very extensive number of web sources.
- Dogpile
- Search results are returned speedily and may be viewed by relevance or by source. Results are also grouped into
categories on the right side of the screen. The advanced search option has a lot of nice features for narrowing searches.
Search for web pages, images, multimedia, news and shopping. Owned by InfoSpace.
- Clusty
- Clusty uses Ask, Open Directory, Gigablast, and "others". Results are combined, and also organized into
folders by topic or by source search engine on the left side of the screen.
- Fundoo Web
- Search the web with Yahoo!, search for pictures with Flickr and for news with Yahoo! news. This site also seaches Amazon,
and Yahoo Maps.
- Keotag
- A metasearch site for blogs, social bookmarking sites, and community news sites . This site uses Technorati, Google Blog Search,
Blogdigger, Blogpulse, and several other sites.
- SurfWax
- SurfWax offers many interesting features. If you click on the snap button, you get a preview of the page along with
focus words on that web page which may be used for further searching. SurfWax results may be presented by relevance, source,
or alphabetically. The focus option helps to find other search terms to use.
- Mamma : The Mother of All Search Engines
- Mamma searches quickly and brings back relevant results. Use the Power Search button to specify which
search engines and directories are used in the search. You may also search for news and images.
- Search.Com
- Search.Com provides general metasearching using search engines and directories. You must use
the advanced search option to specify which engines and directories are searched. The ability to search by
specific topic is a plus for this site. From C|Net.
- Kartoo
- Kartoo graphically presents relationships between the web sites located for a topic. Kartoo will
give you a new perspective on your search results, but it is a good idea to read the Help and FAQ
before doing a search.
- Ithaki
- Smoothly functioning engine.
- Ixquick Metasearch
- Sites in the results list are given star ratings according to the their placement. A nice feature
is the capability of searching in languages other than English.
- Datavor
- Datavor is not really a metasearch site but it is quite useful. You may enter your search term and get
results from Datavor's collection. Then you can run the same search term on a large
number of other search engines and compare the results.
- OnmiMedicalSearch.Com
- This is an efficient metasearch engine for medical information, medical news and images.
- WebCrawler
- You may not specify which search engines and directories to use, and you do not know which
have been used. This is owned by InfoSpace.
- MetaCrawler
- View results by relevance or by source. Search for web sites, images, news, multimedia and shopping. Owned by InfoSpace.
There are more options for advanced searching than are offered by Dogpile which is another InfoSpace engine.
